Setting Your Goals: Easy is; Easy Does

I thought that since tomorrow is the end of yet another great year and the beginning of a new one, I should try to post something that has a little relevance to the "Starting off on the right foot" theory.

Having the ability to set and accomplish goals are potentially the most important traits that set successful people apart from the laggards, leaders from followers, and rich from poor.

The basics of setting a goal is an open secret known by top-caliber athletes, successful businessmen and businesswomen and all types of achievers in all the different fields. The basics of setting goals give you short-term and long-term motivation and focus. They help you set focus on the acquisition of required knowledge and help you to plan and organize your resources and your time so that you can get the best out of your life.

Setting clearly defined short term and long term goals will enable you to measure your progress and achieve personal satisfaction once you have successfully met your goals. Charting your progress will also enable you to actually see the stages of completion leading to the actual realization of your goals. This eliminates the feeling of a long and pointless grind towards achieving your goal. Your self-confidence and level of competence will also improve as you will be more aware of your capabilities as you complete and achieve your goals.

The basics of goal settings will involve deciding what you really want to do with your life, whether it's business or personal, and what short term and long term goals you will need need to achieve in order to get it. Then you have to break down your goals into smaller and more manageable targets that you must complete on your way to achieving your lifetime targets. Once you have your list waste no time in tackling your goals. Start immediately. There is no greater waste of time than procrastination.

A good way to have a manageable list is to have daily and weekly sets of goals. By doing this you will always be in the position of moving forward towards your goals. Everyday will give you the opportunity to fulfill a certain goal giving you the feeling of accomplishment. The sense of accomplishment is by far the ultimate motivator in success. The see forward progress towards your goals is extremely important and that's why your goals should be measueable. Here are some pointers that should be taken into consideration in setting goals and achieving them.

Attitude plays a very big role in setting and achieving your goals.

You must ask yourself if any part of you or your mind is holding you back towards completing your simplest goals?

Is there is any part of your behavior that is being a hindrance or puts your plans into disarray?

If you do have problems in these areas then the immediate thing to do is to address the problem. Make adressing this problem one of your first goals.

Time management practices are also extremely important in the succes of setting and achieving goals. This is why it is very important to set time tables and give yourself a definate start date and completion date. This will keep you from procrastinating and pushing it off. If you do need to push it off, don't just not doit. Set yourself another deinate start and completion date. This is very important to get that feeling of accomplishment. Having a good time table aloows you to see yourplan and work your plan.

Education is key in achieving your goals. If your goals require you to have a certain kind of degree or require a certain specialization or demand a certain skill to be developed, make plans in getting the appropriate education. Not only do you need an education in your specialized field, you also need an education in yourself. You can't get where you want to go if you don't know where you want to be. Knowing what you want is just, if not more, important than knowing how to get it. You need to know the WHAT, the HOW will come in time. Trust me on that.

Giving yourself a little pleasure is really important in achieving goals. You have to enjoy what your working towards or it doesn't make any sense. Even if you are working towards getting out of debt, don't worry so much about the debt as you focus on the freedom of being debt free. Concentrate on the good aspects of every goal, not the bad side. Good thought bring good things.

Here is a great way to remember if a goal is good or not. SMART

S: Your goal must be specific. Be as detailed as you can about your goal. I want to increase my profit margin by 10% or I want to reduce my business debt by 50% or I want to double my gross income. The only way to know if you have gotten somewhere is to know where you are going. The more detailed your road map is, the easier it will be to get to your destination. Maps are very useful tools and so are goals.

M: Your goal must be measurable. Measurable means that there must be some kind of quantity you can evaluate. I want to reduce my business debt isn't measurable, but I want to reduce it by 10% is measurable. You have a beginning debt and an ending debt, the calculation is easy. This is another reason to assess your past and future business performances. Again try to be as specific as possible with your measurement perameters.

A: Your goal must be attainable. The goal of making a million dollars may be a measurable and specific goal but is it attainable? Hopefully it is, but if you're currently making $30,000 then a million may be a bit of a stretch. This is a tricky one because you don't want to set a goal that is too easy but you also don't want it to be so difficult that you cannot possibly reach it. You don't want to limit yourself, because we want you to shoot for the stars, but we also want to make sure you are successful in reaching your goals. The last thing you want is to be unsuccessful and then becoming dissappointed and quit.

R: Your goal must be relevant. Good goals relate to you and/or your business. Your goal can be to outsource 50% of your administrative duties or it can be to increase your hourly value, however, if your goal is to watch less television, that isn't directly related to your business. Your goal should have meaning to you or to your business to make it top of mind at all times. The more attention you give to the attainment of your goals the easier and more likely it will be that you will succeed.

T: Your goal must be timely. Give yourself a deadline. Just because we're talking about New Years doesn't mean you have to give yourself a year to accomplish your goals. In fact, the best way to set goals is to have a few short term goals, a few mid range goals, and a few long term goals. Your short term goals can be a week, a month, or a fiscal quarter. Mid range can be one or two years and long term goals are generally five years and beyond. Don't be afraid to start off slowly with only a couple of short term goals. I have found that if you start off with a couple of specific, attainable, short term goals, you build your confidence up and you end up becoming a lot more successful at achieving goals. It could be as simple as cleaning and sorting all of your items on your desk this weekend. Write down on a piece od paper: Clean and organize my office, by filing all my loose paperwork and throwing away all useless garbage. Be as specific as possible. I will be done cleaning and organizing my office by 3 PM on sunday afternoon. You also need to create a step by step plan to complete your goal in a timely manner by making a schedule of events if you need to. Start time or date and a finish time or date.

Following these simple steps will increase your succcess rate tremendously.

Please do not underestimate the importance of writing your goals down and being specific. If you do nothing else I tell you to do, please make sure to write down your goals and be specific.

Don't Make These Common 4 Affiliate Mistakes!

Don't Make These Common 4 Affiliate Mistakes!

Myths concerning affiliate marketing are appealing and attractive. People who do not know the ins and outs of the system are prone to believing that it is something capable of giving them great fortune overnight. Stories concerning affiliates who earn tremendous amounts of money swim in their heads, and while these stories are as true as they can be, there are those who believe that they are going to have the same fortune once they indulge in this particular business. It is true enough that affiliate marketing is financially rewarding. People who have gone through everything to be able to succeed in this business are reaping the seeds that they untiringly sowed. Many of them enjoy the kind of existence that was not possible for them to have had under ordinary circumstances. Having gone through the A-Z of affiliate marketing, however, these people are the ones who know that while such a business is lucrative, there is absolutely no easy money in it.

Ignorance of this fact is one of the main reasons why there are people who fail miserably in the internet business. There are those who believe in myths concerning the easy money involved in systems such as affiliate marketing. They do not know that there are those who have wasted time, effort and too many resources in trying to pursue the life of ease that they believe this business will give them. So they go into affiliate marketing armed with nothing but myths and fantastical notions of wealth swimming in their consciousness, never realizing that they are bound to make mistakes that would prove to be their downfall. What may be the reason why in businesses such as affiliate marketing, many are called but few are chosen? Perhaps the answer lies on the fact that many affiliates make mistakes that result from their ignorance of facts concerning how the entire business runs. Affiliate marketing is not as simple as an affiliate promoting a merchant's programs or products through his website and getting paid for it. It is also about knowing the market and the customers at hand. Discovering what the most common mistakes affiliates make can perhaps dispel the gloom about myths surrounding affiliate marketing by correcting some wrong notions about it. It might also be able to make those concerned understand that like any other business, there are dos and dont's involved in this one if they want to make each of their steps count.

The first common mistake affiliates make is their lack of knowledge concerning principles involved in their business. This refers to the affiliate's knowledge of search engines in particular. Affiliate marketing involves advertising, and advertising through the internet could not have been better without the existence of search engines. What every affiliate has to do is to make these search engines his best friend through studying search engine optimization closely. This way, he is able to know what to do in connection with building a better website to ultimately use for his business.

The second is that affiliates make the mistake of stuffing their sites with banners that do not provide enough information about the product at hand. The best way to battle this mistake is to provide good content hand-in-hand with such banners. It is important for customers to know and understand the features of a product, and good content will be able to help them realize this goal.

The third is that there are affiliates who make the mistake of promoting only one product. Consequently, customers are not given enough options to choose from. There is also the risk of generating fewer sales as compared to having more options for customers ponder about. It is always better to give them a few better alternatives than to give them only one.

The fourth is that there are affiliates who make the mistake of promoting too many products. As a result, customers are confused and end up beyond making a choice. It is perhaps good to give them only the best choices. This is because it is ultimately up to them to judge which one is the best for them to patronize.

All in all, affiliates that are doomed to fail in this business are those who do not exert enough effort to understand everything involved in the industry that they are in. Knowing their path step by careful step will prove to be beneficial to them, as there is no other way to succeed than to go through any path slowly but surely.

Most of the features of online marketing are quite new to the ears of rookie online marketers. Online shops, blogging, search engine optimization, email newsletter, and others are all terms that can scare almost any new internet marketer right out of the business.

Some of these sites are offering free information; however, some of them are selling valuable information for a small fee. Be selective on the Internet marketer you will deal with. Not all information acquired for a fee is effective and valuable. Before trying several marketing software or getting in touch with different online advertising programs over the Internet, make sure that you have acquired the necessary knowledge, particularly the basics of Internet marketing.

Keep in mind that the success of every Internet marketing tool will depend on the range of knowledge that you know about Internet marketing. In other words, without the basics, you will not be able to use other marketing tools, thus decreasing your chances of success as an online marketer.

How to Keep Going When You Feel Like Giving Up

When you are your own boss, motivation can be a tricky thing. Those who work for someone else are usually presented with incentives to keep them motivated and working hard. But when you have no boss, it's up to you to find ways to motivate yourself.

Taking the road less traveled is difficult at times. By choosing to be your own boss, you put your success in your own hands. This can be much more rewarding than working at an hourly job, but it is also much harder in many ways. There will be times when any business owner feels like throwing in the towel. It is completely normal to feel like giving up at times. But when that happens, it is important to keep on keeping on. Here are some ways to do that.

1. Make a list of the reasons you decided to do what you're doing. Just getting started in business takes a tremendous amount of motivation, so going back to that time can help us get back into a similar frame of mind. Once your list is finished, keep it in a safe place for future reference.

2. Set goals and reward yourself for achieving them. Setting goals for our businesses helps us stay on track, and rewarding ourselves with something meaningful gives us the extra incentive we need to attain them.

3. Network with fellow business owners. It can be reassuring to know that others have been where you are and come out on top. They may also have helpful advice to share about any specific problems you are having.

4. Consider investing in some motivational videos, CDs, books, or seminars. The people who make these have a knack for getting people on their feet and helping them succeed. There are lots of choices when it comes to these items, so if you don't know which speaker or author to choose, ask a fellow businessperson for a recommendation.

5. Get away from it all. One of the biggest motivation killers is burnout. If you've been working long hours and not seeing the rewards you think you deserve, consider taking a long weekend and going on a mini-vacation. Have someone else attend to calls and emails if possible. When you get back, you can get back to work with a clear head.

6. Outsource. If there is an aspect of your business that you aren't crazy about, you might consider hiring someone else to take care of it. This will free you up to work on the things that you are passionate about. Staying motivated is essential to success. When we lose our motivation, our work suffers and we lose ground.

By reminding ourselves what we want to accomplish and taking steps to reenergize ourselves, we can regain the momentum we need to get through the tough times.

5 Reasons Every Business Owner Should Be Outsourcing

In most large businesses, employees perform specialized functions.

Secretaries handle all of the filing and related tasks. Marketing people handle the advertising and public relations. Accountants keep the books. Salespeople make the sales.

Many small businesses do not have the luxury of being able to hire employees. So the business owner must handle everything him or herself. While this may work out reasonably well in the initial stages, as the business grows it gets more difficult to keep up with it all.

Here are some compelling reasons that business owners should consider outsourcing.

1. You can't learn everything. No matter how smart you are, you simply can't. Even if you could, learning takes time, and there are only a set number of hours in a day. If you try to learn every minute aspect of the things that need to be done for your business, you're going to end up disappointed and frustrated.

2. You have a life outside of your business. Everyone needs time to spend with family and friends, even if they're running a business. If we try to tackle everything ourselves, we won't have time to enjoy the finer things in life.

3. The stress of trying to do it all can adversely affect your health. There are enough stressors in life that we don't need to add to them unnecessarily. But if we put pressure on ourselves to run a business on our own with no help at all, it can really stress us out. Besides affecting our state of mind, too much stress can cause high blood pressure and put us at risk for many other ailments.

4. People who are trained well in their fields may be able to do a better job. If you barely know HTML, it would take you quite a while to learn how to make a good-looking and functional website. An experienced web designer could have your entire website up and running before you were finished learning what you need to know. In situations such as this, it makes more sense to outsource than to try to do it yourself.

5. Outsourcing can save you money. Some tasks require special equipment or software. If you're not going to need these things in the future, it doesn't make much sense to buy them for one project. Hiring someone else that already has what is needed to get the job done is usually more economical. In many cases, outsourcing makes good business sense. It allows us to concentrate on the things we're best at, and it can save us time and money.

So the next time you find yourself with an overabundance of work, consider outsourcing.

Time and financial resources.

You need to accept the fact that in order to make money, you must have sufficient time allotment and financial resources. It is not advisable to start your online business if you feel that you do not have that financial capability of sustaining your own business in the long run.

Getting large web traffic to your online business site is your main priority in starting your Internet marketing business. You will be able to achieve it through advertising your site. However, when you found out that the cost is not within your reach, there is a slim chance that you will achieve success in getting traffic and converting them into long-term clients. Keep in mind that without a strong customer base, it will mark the end of your Internet marketing career.

Is there any other way to escape expensive online business advertising?

Keep in mind that the word FREE still exists.

In other words, there are still low-cost alternatives and even free methods of advertising your Internet marketing business. You must be confident that such free or low-cost advertising alternatives will work, after all it is still a type of promotion that will help you get the targeted traffic that you need for your site. It does not necessarily mean that free or cheap advertising will not work effectively whereas expensive advertising mediums will always work. With a little confidence and some clever thinking you will be able to make your free alternatives just as effective as the expensive advertisement packages on the Internet.

As previously mentioned, there are many ways of advertising your online business without spending much of your fortune. The best idea that you must consider is writing original articles containing fresh and juicy information that will help your website visitors know about your business and the products and services that you are offering. Write your own original articles and sign with free or low-cost article distribution services that will distribute your articles to publishers around the Internet. If you want a wider distribution of your articles for increased awareness, you may pay for a small fee. Once your articles are distributed and published around the Internet with hyperlinks directing to your site, you will have your first set of new web visitors in no time. If you do not want to write the articles by yourself, you can hire different article writing services that will do the job in exchange for a small fee. Article writing and distribution is one of the best means of Internet marketing promotion.

Just like article writing, you may also use weblogs or simply blogs for your Internet marketing business promotion. This is completely free of charge and an ideal way of getting quality content on your website as well as getting repeated visitors who are interested in reading what you want to say. You can write your views about your business or include some photographs of the products you are offering. Do not forget to include your site links on your blogs so that your readers can visit your site if they want more information about what you have written on your blogs.

Posting to online forums is another free yet effective way of getting your hyperlinks noticed by majority of Internet users. There are thousands of online discussion forums out there that offers subjects related to the nature of your online business. You may also help other individuals by posting your comments or suggestions that you know with regards to a certain issue. The more assistance that you can offer, the more your name will stand out of the crowd as the authority on the subject, and the more likely forum readers will click on your website hyperlink to find out more about you and what you are into. It is one of the best ways of making sales without even selling actual products or services.

Why spend a lot if there are free and low-cost advertising alternatives for your Internet marketing promotion? With some careful planning and with little spending, you will be able to earn a lot from your online business.

Special Reports For Affiliates To Use

freeyourincome.com online business growth, marketing and mentoring

Affiliates use a variety of methods to promote products online. Some run email campaigns or promote through weekly or monthly newsletters. Others maintain websites that provide informative or fun content or product reviews. Still others discuss and recommend products through their blogs.

One thing that works no matter how promoted online is the special report. Special reports can be written on any subject imaginable, then given away online to promote products. Many smart affiliate managers write these reports, and then allow their affiliates to brand them and give them to their site visitors or members of their mailing lists in an attempt to get sales. It works.

What Should I Write a Report About?

Write a special report about anything that is closely related to the product you are trying to promte. This report could present a problem that can be solved by your product or promote a solution for a problem which your product can and will solve. If you are selling a fairly common product, it could detail new ways of using it or how to get the most out of it.

It is important to provide information that potential customers can use and will enjoy reading. Write a report that is just an advertisement for the product in disguise, readers will see right through it. Give them something that they can use, they will be more inclined to listen to your message and possibly buy the product.

What If I'm Not a Good Writer?

No one has to have a master's degree in English Lit to write a special report. All you need is a conversational writing style and a good command of spelling and grammar. If spelling and grammar are not your strong points, you can always use a spell checker and a proofreader.

If you really don't want to write your own report, hire someone to do it. For great report and article ideas please Click Here.

There are plenty of freelance writers out there who would be happy to put together a report. They might even be willing to come up with a topic if you can't get past that part of it.

What Is Branding?

Branding is simply adding the individual affiliate's links to the report so that they will get credit for sales resulting from their distribution of the report. This can be accomplished using the program used to create the report. There are also free software programs that can add in affiliate links for some third-party affiliate managers. Use them to brand reports for affiliates, or offer them to the affiliates so that they may do it themselves.

Branded special reports are a great asset to affiliates. By distributing the report and allowing others to do so as well can increase their sales exponentially. That is beneficial to everyone involved. For more information on brandable articles and reports Click Here.

5 Resources No Affiliate Program Should Be Without

It takes time to build a successful affiliate program, but the results are well worth it.

Think of your affiliates as your virtual sales force, helping you promote your products and services. By providing a resource center for your affiliates, you are giving them tools to be successful.

Here are five things your resource center should have:

Training Materials: Some of the people that join affiliate programs will be seasoned veterans. They will have large mailing lists and websites that receive steady traffic. These people will know exactly how to market the products and services to their full potential.
On the other hand, some people will be brand new to the whole idea of affiliate marketing. By providing training materials, such as a guide to getting started with affiliate marketing or a
report on building a mailing list, you will help these newbies get off to a running start.

Sample Emails: Email marketing is a great way to increase sales. In order to catch readers attention and induce the sale, the marketing message contained within an email needs to stand out from all the other emails this person receives. Of course, not everyone is a gifted writer, so helping affiliates with this part is worth the small amount of time invested. Affiliates can increase their sales with pre-written sample emails that they can use to market your products to their individual mailing lists.

Ads: In addition to marketing products via email, some affiliates will want to display ads on their websites and blogs. Its always a good idea to provide affiliates with some text link ads as well as some graphic ads in a few different sizes.

Articles: It's no secret that people turn to the web in order to gain information. By providing affiliates with articles they can use on their websites and blogs, you are helping them drive traffic to their sites, giving their readers a reason to stay on the site for a longer period of time, and promoting your products at the same time.

Special Reports: Providing affiliates with a brandable special report that they can use as a give-away item can help them increase the size of their mailing list. The term brandable means that affiliates can include their individual affiliate link in the report in place of the links that are already included. For example, if you created a recipe book for starting a home business, you could create a brandable report that explained the benefits of creating a home based business versus trying to open an old brick and mortor store front. Within the report, include links to your rebrandable report. Affiliates can put their affiliate link in those spots and then offer the report as a freebie to people who sign up for their mailing list or as a bonus to a product of their own. When you provide these resources to your affiliates, you are helping them become better and more successful marketers. This will, of course, help you in the long run.
As affiliates gain new marketing skills, they will have new ways to market your products and services, therefore hopefully increasing your sales and their commissions.

Keeping In Touch With Affiliates is Essential

If you have joined any affiliate programs in the past, you may have noticed that some affiliate managers spend a lot of time connecting with their affiliates and others only send a welcome letter (which is actually sent via autoresponder)

Have you ever heard the old saying out of sight out of mind? That saying rings true when it comes to affiliate programs. Sometimes, a person will join an affiliate program on a whim and later forget that they joined it. Other people may start out as great affiliates, but could lose some of their enthusiasm or find a bright and shiny new program to promote. A good rule of thumb is to promote one program and focus on profiting from that one program. You are able to focus more of your energy on learning and promoting your one program and it keeps you from spreading yourself to thin.

By taking a few moments each week or month to communicate with affiliates, you will keep your program on their minds. Sometimes, all a person needs is a simple reminder and they will become an active affiliate again. With all of the things going on in people's lives everyday, a quick reminder would probably be very appreciated. If you think you are promoting a worthwhile program, chances are that your affiliates think that also.

A great way to communicate with affiliates is through a blog like you are reading right now. A blog is a web based log or journal that allows all members of the blog to communicate about related topics online. Blogs are growing in popularity everyday. Many blogs are available online and are fairly easy to start and promote. For a good example of a blog Click Here. Give your affiliate a weekly wrap up of any Internet marketing news you find interesting, links to sites that offer free reports or training that may be helpful, and any other information that would be beneficial to them. Sending a monthly newsletter is another way to keep in touch with affiliates as well as motivate them. Remember that you need to have their permission to send anyone an email newsletter or else it is considered SPAM. For the most part though, if you have affiliates, they have already given you permission to contact them with promotions or other special offers via email. For more information about SPAM Click Here. If you offer any type of monthly contests or bonus programs, you can list the previous months winners and announce the rules and prizes for the current months contest within the newsletters.

Whenever you are getting ready to launch a new product, start building buzz among affiliates by providing some teasers. By letting your affiliates know about a product launch a few weeks in advance, you can give them a chance to plan their content around the new product's theme. They can then build a little buzz of their own among their readers. This aids in creating a very successful product launch as well. Different people respond to information in different ways and some of your readers may enjoy participating in a teleseminar. This is a great way to provide group training on affiliate marketing practices as well as the features and benefits of your products. These calls can be recorded, allowing you to post the links in your affiliate resource center and blog where future affiliates can benefit from them, as well. Keeping the doors of communication between you and your affiliates open will help to build a successful and loyal team of affiliates who are ready, willing and able to refer sales. Just remember that your affiliates are your team members and are also your business partners. Effective communication among partners is essential to your affiliate program success.
